Faith and Fire
Fire That Gives Light
Trial can reveal what appetite, fear, and comfort kept hidden
Fire is dangerous, but it is also an image of illumination and refinement. The question is not whether pain is good; it is what truth may become visible within it.
Do not worship the fire
Suffering is not automatically noble. It can deform, isolate, and exhaust. Faith does not require pretending that injury was pleasant or deserved. We may lament, seek safety, ask for help, and resist what destroys life.
Yet hardship can expose foundations. When the usual comforts disappear, the heart sees what it expected those comforts to prove: worth, control, security, or belonging. Exposure hurts, but it can become the beginning of freedom.
Refinement is a relationship
Metal is refined through heat under the care of one who understands the material. Spiritual refinement is not random damage renamed afterward. It is the faithful work of God within a person who is suffering, bringing truth, companionship, endurance, and choice into places pain tried to claim.
The fire does not author every loss. Grace can still enter every loss. What was meant to silence can become testimony; what shattered an illusion can uncover a truer hope.
Become light for another
A scar becomes service when it remembers pain without centering itself. The person who has walked through addiction, grief, humiliation, or fear may recognize a hidden struggle in another and remain when others leave.
Carry the light without romanticizing the flame. Tell the truth about cost. Offer the hand that you once needed. Let survival mature into presence, wisdom, and compassionate action.
